The Catholic world is a buzz in DC as preparations get underway for the first-time visit of Pope Benedict XVI to the US and to the District. On April 16, 2008, the Pope’s 81st birthday, His Holiness will hold a series of meetings that include a visit to the White House to meet with President Bush and then a trip to the Basilica of the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception for a meeting. On Thursday, April 17, 2008, the Pope will hold a Mass at National’s Baseball Stadium. Tickets have already been distributed to local parishes, but in the off chance that tickets become available, the Archdiocese is compiling a waitlist. Check the Archdiocese's website for more information.
