Passport DC: Celebrate Europe Week in Washington, DC
This week is Europe Week in Washington, DC as embassies open their doors to the public in a joint effort by Cultural Tourism DC and the Delegation of the European Commission. From May 3, 2008 through May 17, 2008, visitors can experience the music, history, art and culture of America’s global partners. This week is Europe Week and some of the highlights include the Embassy of Greece hosting a film screening of Maria Callas’ Biography, courtesy of the History Channel; the Embassy of Ireland and the Washington National Opera hosting performances of Tamerlano in which Placido Domingo makes his American debut in the role of Bajazet; and the Embassy of the Czech Republic is hosting a bagpipe rock concert. Some of the events are free; some aren't and some require reservations. Here is a list of events along with additional information to help you plan your European adventure.
