What to Do This Weekend in DC

So there’s some fun to be had this weekend and here’s your guide to the highlights.

  • The Legg Mason Tennis Classic begins this weekend and runs through August 17. This tennis tournament brings out the pros—Andy Roddick, John Isner and Mardy Fish. Tickets run between $10 and $45. You can catch a match at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Stadium in Rock Creek Park.

  • Need a good laugh? The annual DC Comedy Fest wraps up on Saturday, August 9. The Comedy Fest has panels and classes going on at sites across the city including the Sixth, Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse and DC Improv. The one not to miss: “Politics is Funny” of course. Comics from The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, The Tonight Show With Jay Leno Show and Late Night with David Lettterman will all be on hand. Tickets for the "Politics is Funny" session will run you $18.

  • How about a little fun for the family? On Saturday from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m, the Arlington County Fair at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center (3501 South Second Street, Arlington, VA 22204) is the perfect family outing and not too far out from the center of the city. Admission is free and visitors will enjoy everything from pig races, pony rides, a petting zoo and lots of food.

  • In the mood for some night music? The Virgin Mobile Festival is happening Saturday and Sunday at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, MD. Rock-out to the music of the Foo Fighters or Nine Inch Nails or enjoy Bob Dylan sing some of his music. Two-day passes are $175; a single day is $97.50.
