Plan to attend the Fourth Annual DC Poetry Festival on the evening of Saturday, August 23, 2008 at the Carter Barron Ampitheatre (4850 Colorado Avenue, NW). The festival starts at 7:30 p.m. and goes until 10 p.m. This is a free event, but any donations you make will benefit the Howard Theatre--once the premiere stage for black entertainers--in DC's Shaw neighborhood.
This event will be headlined by soul singer Ayanna Gregory, daughter of comedian Dick Gregory. Other featured acts include: Def Poet Tommy Bottoms, The Johnny Artis Band and Poet Breeze.
