The National Arboretum is a beautiful place to take a fall walk or even a bike ride to see the changing foliage. Beginning in late September visitors to the National Arboretum can experience the leaves changing colors beginning with the Dogwoods as their leaves change from red to purple. The National Arboretum with its 446 acres of plant life and 9.5 miles of winding roadways offers visitors a diverse landscape of foliage and plantlife to explore. Generally speaking fall colors reach their peak in mid to late October in the DC metro area. . .read more
