DC Shorts Film Festival 2009 is one of the leading short film festivals in the nation according to MovieMaker Magazine. Washington, DC will play host to this film festival for its sixth year. 100 films will be screened during the festival. There is something for everyone, including dramas, comedies, animation, sci-fi, documentaries, and creative, experimental films. - DC Shorts Booth at Penn Quarter’s Arts on Foot Festival – FREE Event
Saturday, September 12, 2009. DC Shorts will present selections from past year’s competitions. This complimentary event will feature films with genres
ranging from animation to sci-fi to comedy to experimental.
- Family Films – FREE Event. Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.
Landmark’s E Street Cinema, 555 11th Street, NW (Metro Center Station)
U.S. Navy Memorial Burke Theater, 701 Pennsylvania Ave., NW (Archives/Navy Memorial) There will be a free screening of “family friendly films” on Saturday, September 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Landmark’s E Street Cinema and the U.S. Navy Memorial’s Burke Theater. Free tickets may be picked up at the DC Shorts booth at the Arts on Foot. Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis. These films are appropriate for children 8 years and older.
- Greenbelt Doggie Drill Team – FREE Event. Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 12:30 p.m. (after the FREE Family Film Screening). U.S. Navy Memorial Plaza. The award-winning Greenbelt Dog Marching Drill Team has won trophies and awards in many parades around Washington, DC. They participate in an average of six parades each year. This group of owners and their dogs also perform in obedience demonstrations in community events and schools.
- Midnight Madness – FREE Event. Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 11:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m. Bar Louie, 701 7th Street, NW. An open party for everyone, in a relaxed atmosphere. Drink specials and delicious nibbles – and some great post-screening. discussions.
