The Hay Adams is Washington, DC's premier luxury hotel. Located just steps away from the White House, the Hay Adams is both convenient and exceptional. Named to Condé Nast Traveler's 2007 Gold List of the "World's Top 700 Places to Stay," the Hay Adams lives up to its well-deserved reputation.

What To Expect

The Hay Adams was built in the 1920s as a residential hotel, today it is an icon of first-class service. The likes of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have been spotted lunching at this beautiful boutique hotel that caters to the wealthy and the powerful.

Located in Layfette Square, across from the White House, the hotel boasts views of both the people's home at 1600 Pennsylvania and St. John's Church; the hotel is conveniently in close proximity to many of the memorials and monuments and a metro ride away from many of DC's other must see sights.

The hotel got its name from the distinguished residents who previously lived on its site: John Hay, Private Assistant to President Abraham Lincoln and later Secretary of State, and Henry Adams, an acclaimed author and descendant of U.S. Presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams.

Guests at the Hay Adams can expect to be treated like royalty. The staff is extremely accommodating and with 145 rooms that have been recently renovated, guests can expect nothing but opulence. Beds are covered in luxurious Italian Frette linens and bathrooms are marble. The rooms, while small, are nothing short of lovely and pricey. Be sure to shop around for deals because while the rooms generally go for $475 a night, you might find an online bargain.

Be sure to stop in at the hotel's Off the Record for a drink or light snack, and keep your eyes peeled for notable DC insiders doing the same. The rooftop access is no longer open to the general public, but can be booked for private parties.
