Hotel Monaco: A Luxury Boutique Hotel That Does Not Disappoint
The Hotel Monaco Alexandria is part of the Kimpton Hotel family and a fairly new property nestled in historic Old Town Alexandria. The hotel—although new—is filled with history. Once the site of the Marshall Inn at the outset of the Civil War, the story goes that an altercation between the innkeeper, secessionist James W. Jackson, and Colonel Elmer Ellsworth, leader of the 11th New York Infantry "Fire Zouaves," led to a melee and both men became the first two causalities of the Civil War.
Today, the property plays home to 241 guestrooms and suites. Metro accessible, great dining options and quaint and chic shopping just steps away, the Hotel Monaco is the perfect place to stay if you are looking for something off the traditional beaten path. In true Old Town style, the hotel is exceptionally accommodating to visitors with pets and will make your puppy’s or cat’s stay as pleasant as your own.
The in room spa treatments available, the imaginative packages and the on site restaurant, Jackson simply add to this hotel’s appeal. If I were having visitors to the area, this is where I would put them up. The cost of staying at this swanky hotspot ranges from $249 to $1,599 a night depending on the room.
