March in Washington, DC

March in Washington, DC

March is one of those months in DC when it could snow one day and be in the low 70s the next. But Washingtonians start gearing up for Spring with lots of fun activities and events. So it’s a great time of year to visit, just be prepared for any type of weather.

WEATHER: According to the 2011 Farmer’s Almanac, the average temperature in Washington during March this year is going to be about 39 degrees and we’re expecting 1.5 inches of rain, which are both below average. The beginning of the month is expected to be sunny and cold, then turn into rain, mixed in with some sunny cool days for the rest of the month.

WHAT TO PACK: Since the forecasters are predicting rain, bring any and all water resistant jackets and shoes. Umbrellas would be good too, with some sweaters and pants and other layering types of clothes.
