Veterans Day is November 11, 2009 and if you are in Washington, DC there are many opportunities to pay tribute to our men and women in the Armed Forces--past, present and future. And with the many events taking place at the national monuments and memorials, it is a great time to tour them as well.
- Veterans Day at the World War II Memorial.
At 8 a.m. a wreath-laying ceremony will be placed at the National World War II Memorial.
- Veterans Day at Arlington National Cemetery.
At 11 a.m. a wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, followed by a ceremony in the Memorial Amphitheater. For further information call 703-607-8000.
- Story Telling at the Vietnam Women's Memorial.

- Veterans Day at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
At 1 p.m. a ceremony featuring speakers, a color guard and a wreath-laying ceremony at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial will take place. For further information call 202-619-7222.
- Veterans Day at the United States Navy Memorial.
At 1 p.m. the Naval District of Washington will lay a wreath at the Lone Sailor Statue, located at the U.S. Navy Memorial at 701 Pennsylvania Avenue NW. For further information call 202-737-2300.
- Veterans Day at the African-American Civil War Memorial.
A wreath laying ceremony will be held at the African-American Civil War Memorial, located at Vermont Avenue and U Street, NW. For further information call 202-426-6924 or 202-667-2667.
- The Women in Military Service for America Memorial

- The First Division Memorial.
A wreath laying ceremony will be held at the First Division Memorial, the grassy panel at 17th Street, south of E Street, NW.
- Veterans Day at Mount Vernon. Mount Vernon will admit all active duty or retired military free on Veteran's Day.
