Labor Day weekend 2009 in Washington, DC is filled with family fun. The Labor Day holiday weekend is considered by most as the last official weekend of summer before the daily grind kicks back up and school gets into full swing. - Labor Day Concert at the U.S. Capitol

- Kennedy Center Page to Stage Festival
The Kennedy Center hosts its eighth annual Page-to-Stage festival, a three-day event offering free readings and open rehearsals of plays and musicals being developed by more than 40 D.C.-area theater companies. Sep 5 - 7, 2009 from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. daily. Various Kennedy Center Locations. Free tickets given out 30 minutes prior to performance time.
- DC Blues Festival
Live blues on Saturday, September 5, 2009, 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Carter Barron Amphitheater. 16th St. & Colorado Ave. NW,Washington, DC. Enjoy performances by Teeny Tucker, Eugene "Hideaway" Bridges, Eddie Turner, and Michael Hill & The Blues Mob. And for the kids there will even be harmonica lessons. This event is free and open to the public.
- Kids Day at Nationals Park
Sunday, September 6, 2009, 1:35 p.m. Tickets for children (age 12 and under) are just $1 with the purchase of any adult ticket valued at $33 or more. Purchase up to 4 tickets for children ages 2-12 for just $1 each, with the purchase of one full-priced adult ticket in any seating area excluding the Lexus Presidents Club, PNC Diamond Club and Grandstand. Offer is good at the box office, day-of-game for the following three games: June 11 vs. Cincinnati, August 24 vs. Milwaukee, September 6 vs. Florida. Children must be present at the time of purchase. - Maryland Renaissance Festival
The Maryland Renaissance Festival in Crownsville, MD opens August 29, 2009 and runs through October 25, 2009. It is open weekends from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission: Adults - $18.00, Seniors (62+) - $15.00, Children (7-15) - $8.00, Children 6 & under are free. This is an opportunity for the whole family to experience a bit of 16th Century England with food, live performances, games and costumes.
- Virginia Scottish Games
On September 5-6, 2009 at Great Meadows, the Plains, VA from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. revelers can enjoy Alexandria’s Scottish Heritage with highland dancing, piping and drumming, sheepherding demonstrations, gathering of Clans, fiddling competitions, Scottish food and drink and so much more. A one day ticket is $18; tickets for children 5 to 12 are $5 and five and under are free.
