It’s not too late to enjoy what’s left of the cherry blossom festival and the culinary craze that it has created for chefs in Washington, DC. Some restaurants where visitors can enjoy cherry-picked creations include the following:
- Cafe Mozu. 1330 Maryland Ave SW; (202) 787-6040. After enjoying the Cherry Blossoms walk over to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel’s Café Mozu. For a sweet treat, enjoy the Cherry Chocolate Cone ($8). This sweet cherry sorbet and warm cherry kirsch is dressed with a twist of the waffle cone and served in a dark chocolate-painted glass. Guests may also enjoy a Cherry Blossom bento box that features such items as Australian Wagyu beef with Cherry Blossom mashed potatoes, and a Cherry Blossom sushi roll with Cherry Blossom rice, shrimp and avocado ($30).
- Georgia Brown’s. 950 15th St., NW; 202-393-4499. Georgia Brown’s is a favorite of every Washingtonian. Try the cherry jubilee crisp with house churned cherry ice cream and a hazelnut cookie ($9.95).
- Rosa Mexicano. 575 7th St NW; (202) 783-5522. Kick back with a Cereza Brillante, a sparkling cherry infused margarita ($11) or try the Tempura de Camarones, a coconut shrimp tempura roll served with a chile ancho-cherry dipping sauce ($8).
- TenPenh. 1001 Pennsylvania Ave NW # 4; (202) 393-4500. Try the Sakura martini ($5). Made with Bing-cherry infused sake and sour-cherry purée this is the perfect dinner cocktail.
- Urbana. 2121 P St NW; (202) 956-6650. Urbana is offering a very yummy Chocolate brioche and English toffee bread pudding with Bing cherries and cherry gelato ($10).
