Mount Vernon Fall Wine Festival and Sunset Tour

From , former About.com Guide

The Mount Vernon Fall Wine Festival and Sunset Tour takes place October 2-4, 2009 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. This annual rite of fall is a tradition at Mount Vernon and allows visitors to see the home and the cellar of George Washington's mansion at night while enjoying wine from 17 Virginia wineries.

This is a very laid back evening and guests are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket and sip your favorite vintage on the east lawn of Mount Vernon. There is also live music to add to the ambiance of the evening. There are also fruit and cheese boxes that you can purchase to go along with your vino. Each box serves two and is available by advance purchase only, $24 each.

Note: The gardens, the George Washington: Pioneer Farmer Site, Wharf, Tomb, and the Donald W. Reynolds Museum and Education Center will be closed during the festival. No outside food or beverages are allowed at the Wine Festival.

Tickets can be purchased by visiting the Mount Vernon Website and cost $30 per person.
