The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum

Museum Highlights: The permanent and special exhibitions of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum portray an extremely thorough account of this shameful period in world history. Through actual film footage and eyewitness testimonies, the self-guided permanent exhibit is presented in three parts entitled "Nazi Assault," "Final Solution," and "Last Chapter." Over 900 artifacts and 70 video monitors are used to present this powerful museum experience.

Note: Not recommended for children under 11 years of age.

Visitor Information:

  • Location: 100 Raoul Wallenberg Place, SW, near the National Mall, just south of Independence Ave., SW, between 14th Street and Raoul Wallenberg Place.
  • Hours: 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. every day including weekends with extended hours to 7:50 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, April through mid-June.
  • Closed: Yom Kippur and December 25.
  • Telephone: Main telephone 202-488-0400, TTY for the hearing impaired 202-488-0406.
  • Admission: Timed passes are necessary for visiting the Permanent Exhibition and can be obtained at the Museum on the day of your visit or in advance by calling tickets.com at 800-400-9373 for a small booking fee. Each day, the Museum distributes a large but limited number of timed entry passes for use that same day on a first-come first-served basis.
    Public Transportation: The Metro stop is Smithsonian - Blue/Orange Lines.
    Parking: There is no public parking facility. Staff members are ready to facilitate passenger drop off at the driveway by the 14th Street entrance for visitors needing personal assistance.
    Accessibility: For vehicles bearing the appropriate access tags, the National Park Service has designated approximately ten accessible parking spaces at and around the Washington Monument, along Independence Avenue west of 14th Street, and at the Tidal Basin parking lot.
    Restaurants and Shops: There is one cafe and a museum shop on the premises.
