The International Spy Museum Highlights:
Visitors to the Spy Museum can adopt a cover, break codes, identify disguised spies, and become the subjects of covert surveillance through interactive exhibits with cutting edge visual effects.

The museum, which opened in 2002, displays the largest collection of espionage artifacts ever on display. The permanent exhibition presents spy "tricks of the trade" while exploring the ingenuity of real-life spies.

Note: Permanent Exhibition is most appropriate for ages 12 and higher.

Visitor Information:

  • Location: 800 F Street, NW, between 8th and 9th Streets in Penn Quarter.
  • Hours: Opens daily at 9 a.m. from April until August and at 10 a.m. the rest of the year. Last Admission is at 7 p.m. April through October, and 5 p.m. November through March. The Museum closes one hour after Last Admission. Hours are subject to change. For the most up-to-date information, telephone 202-393-7798.
  • Closed: Thanksgiving Day, December 25 and January 1. Occasionally, the museum closes for private events earlier than normal. Early closings are always posted on the museum's web site.

  • Admission:
    General Admission tickets are $16 for adults (ages 12 - 64); $15 for seniors (ages 65 and up), active duty military and the Intelligence Community with identification and $13 for children ages five to 11. Children under five are admitted for free.
    Public Transportation:
    The closest Metro Stop is the Gallery Place/Chinatown, served by the Red, Yellow and Green Lines. Also nearby is the Metro Center station, served by the Blue, Orange and Red Lines.
    Parking:
    Limited street parking is available throughout the neighborhood. Spaces are metered with a two-hour maximum. Several garages and parking lots are located within a two-block walk of the Museum. Parking fees range from $10 - $20, depending on the time of day and length of time parked.
    Accessibility:
    The museum fully complies with all ADA requirements for visitors with disabilities. Wheelchairs are available upon request on a first come, first served basis and sign language interpretation (for public programs only) is available with advanced notice of at least two weeks. Please note that there are no spaces specifically reserved for handicapped parking on the block immediately surrounding the Museum.
    Restaurants and Stores:
    The International Spy Museum shop sells clothing, spy gadgets, toys, books and music. There are spy themed restaurants nearby the museum.
