This edition of Mark Your Calendar highlights some of the hot tickets on sale and include Bon Jovi, Mary J Blige & Jay Z and Radiohead. Also plan ahead to attend the Washington International Wine & Food Festival in March at the Reagan Building and the Washington Antiquarian Book Fair.

Kennedy Center Highlights

  • Black Sombrero Brass at the Millennium Stage on Friday, February 29, 2008. Trumpeter Dan Haverstock, recreates the sound of Tijuana Brass using the same two trumpets, trombone, marimba/vibes, guitar, bass, and drums giving listeners a blend of Mexican mariachi, Dixieland, American Pop and everything in between. The performance is free and begins at 6:00 p.m.

  • Don’t miss the New York City Ballet at the Kennedy Center Opera House, February 27, 2008-March 2, 2008. Tickets range in cost from $29 to $110. Call 202-467-4600.

Concerts

  • Bon Jovi's "Lost Highway World Tour" will be at the Verizon Center on February 28, 2008. Tickets range in price from $49.50 to $135.50. For tickets or more information, call 202-397-7328.

  • Tickets have gone on sale through Ticketmaster for the much anticipated concerts of Mary J. Blige and Jay-Z. The concert is on March 26, 2008 at Baltimore’s 1st Mariner Arena and tickets will set you back anywhere from $49.75 to $150.75 per ticket. Call 410-547-7328. On April 6, 2008 there will also be a show at the Verizon Center. Tickets at the Verizon Center will run you anywhere from $49.75 to $150.75. Call 202-397-7328.

  • Avril Lavigne. April 15, 2008 at the Patriot Center. Tickets are $42.50.

  • Radiohead will play Nissan Pavilion on May 11, 2008. Tickets range from $35 to $55.

Upcoming Annual Events

Fun for the Kids

  • The Laurie Berkner Band in Concert. March 30, 2008. The Music Center at Strathmore, 5301 Tuckerman Lane, North Bethesda, MD. Tickets are $25 and $35. They are available through Ticketmaster and the Strathmore Box Office by calling (301) 581-5100. The Show runs approximately one hour, fifteen minutes. Visit www.strathmore.org for more information.

  • Ringling Brothers Circus. March 29-30, 2008 at the Verizon Center. And even if you don’t go to the circus, make plans to watch the parade of elephants that will signal the return of the Circus to DC. The parade generally begins at 12:30 p.m., and starts at 2nd & D St, NW and finishes at the Verizon Center. Look for more information on this in my weekly blog.

  • Ringling Brothers Circus. Wednesday, April 2, 2008—Sunday, April 13, 2008 at the Patriot Center. Tickets range from between $14 and $95 and can be purchased online.

  • Doodlebops Live. Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the Patriot Center. Tickets range from $22 to $45.
