  • Annual High Heel Drag Race
    October 24 - Each Year on the Tuesday before Halloween from about 7 - 9 p.m.

    Spectators by the thousands head for 17th Street NW near Dupont Circle to enjoy Washington's fabulously raucous Drag Queen Parade and High Heel Drag Race.

  • Marvin's Monster Mash - NSO Pops
    Oct 26 - 28

    Marvin Hamlisch and friends perform spooky music of the night including selections from The Phantom of the Opera, the theme to Psycho, and more.

  • Cirque du Soleil presents Corteo
    October 26 - November 26

    See a performance of Cirque du Soleil's Corteo presented under the Grand Chapiteau in downtown Washington, D.C.

  • Buzzlife presents Halloween Weekend
    October 27 and 28 - 9 p.m. until 3 a.m.

    Double trouble for ages 21 and over (with ID), these two Halloween parties feature music cash prizes for costume contest winners and more. Location: Woolly Mammoth Theater, 641 D Street, NW. Each night is limited to 400 people and tickets are required.

  • Nightmare on M Street
    October 28

    Register from 1-6 pm at Rumors (1900 M Street, NW) or Front Page (1333 New Hampshire Avenue, NW) for the 7th Annual Nightmare on M Street. Then, from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., bar crawl some of DC's favorite bars with thousands of party-goers decked out in costumes.

  • The International Club of DC Halloween Party
    October 28 at 9 p.m.

    The International Club of DC's Haunted Halloween Party at the Hardrock Cafe includes a costume contest (with a grand prize of a weekend trip to Iceland,) dancing and more. Visit the web site above for details and ticket information.

  • Halloween Monster Bash '06 at the Clarendon Ballroom
    October 28

    This popular event features a costume contest with cash prizes, DJ Pat Premier, scary party favors and more. The Clarendon Ballroom is located at 3185 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, Virginia. (Metro: Clarendon on the Orange Line. (At the top of the escalator, take a u-turn and walk to the west through Clarendon Park, in the median between Wilson & Clarendon Boulevards. Clarendon Ballroom is across from the war monument.)

  • A Turn of the Century Halloween
    October 30 at 6 and 7:30 p.m.

    A Victorian All Hallow's Eve at the National Theatre will feature Eric Henning's demonstrations of parlor magic - Halloween costumes and Victorian attire are encouraged. Free tickets are distributed one-half hour before the performances - first come, first seated. Seating is limited.

  • Halloween Tasting Menu at 1789 Restaurant
    October 30 and 31

    1789 Restaurant in Georgetown (just across from the Exorcist Steps) offers a few hair-raising delights for two nights with an undisclosed, five-course top secret tasting menu for $45, featuring "delicious fare with shock value -- the names of which will be withheld until the end of the meal."

  • Poe in Alexandria
    October 30 and 31 at 8 p.m.

    The Lyceum, Alexandria's History Museum, will present two evenings with Edgar Allen Poe, America's earliest master of the macabre. A recreation, by actor David Keltz, will include recitations from Poe's classic works such as "The Raven," "Annabel Lee" and "The Tell-Tale Heart." Content is best suited for ages 12 and up.   • Halloween at the Hawk n Dove - 329 Pennsylvania Avenue, SE
    October 31

    Barcardi celebrates Halloween at Capitol Hill's Hawk n Dove from 8 - 10 p.m. with drinks, specials, and free Bacardi give-aways.

  • Brasserie Les Halles
    October 31

    Les Halles will offer a special Halloween menu in celebration of Halloween and the restaurant's 16th birthday.
