Once you have seen all there is to see at the National Portrait Gallery, head west on F Street, NW to Ninth Street, NW and turn left on Tenth Street, NW until you reach 511 Tenth Street, NW, Ford's Theater. The tragic assination of President Abraham Lincoln which occurred at this historic landmark served as the inspiration for one of Whitman's eulogies to the President. If you decide to take the tour, you will be able to see the box where Lincoln was sitting on that fateful eve of his murder.
