The Vietnam Veterans Memorail in Washington, DC honors the men and women who served in the Vietnam War. The memorial consists of three sections:
- The first section is "the Wall" which is a black granite panel containing the names of over 58,0000 Vietnam veterans who gave their life during the war or who are still missing.
- Section two consists of a bronze of three life-size service members and a flagpole. This was added in 1984.
- And the third section is a sculpture of several women--two service women tending a wounded soldier and a third kneeling. This section honors all women who served in the Vietnam war.
The memorial is one of the most visited in Washington, DC with visitors leaving flowers in remembrance of their loved ones or simply to thank and honor the sacrifice of America's brave.
