- The Grand Illumination - December 6, 2009 - Colonial Williamsburg heralds the Christmas season with candles, fireworks and music. The celebration begins at 4:45 p.m. on outdoor stages throughout the Historic Area. Colonial Williamsburg's Fifes and Drums provide 18th-century music as costumed performers present holiday entertainment found in Williamsburg two centuries ago. At 5:45 p.m., the Fifes and Drums signal the beginning of the Grand Illumination. At 6:15 p.m., candles are lit in public buildings, shops and homes, and fireworks are launched.
- Annual Christmas Homes Tour - Presented by the Green Spring Garden Club. Includes five locations in the Historic Area not usually open to the public: the Nelson-Galt house, Robert Nicolson house, Alexander Craig house, Ludwell Tenement, and Edinburgh Castle. Each site will be decorated with holiday floral arrangements. Dec. 5, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Purchase tickets (which include free parking at and shuttle bus from the Visitor Center) at the Visitor Center and the Williamsburg Lodge on Dec. 4, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and Dec. 5, 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. For more information and advance tickets (before Nov. 15), visit the garden club website at http://www.greenspringgardenclub.org. - Mrs. Campbell's Holiday Tea. Join Mrs. Campbell and her contemporaries for an afternoon tea, chocolate fancies, melodies played on harp to set the holiday mood, and lively discussion about 18th-century holiday traditions. - Christmas Eve, December 24, 2009 Yultide Supper - The Yultide Supper offers holiday dining, entertainment, and celebration. Enjoy festive Christmas songs and stories between courses.
